SOIL

The estate's soil is for the most part of a sandy-chalky composition with a slightly alkaline reaction, pH 7.3-8.1. The sandy, silicon-rich terrain, is excellent for the production of red wines but especially so for white wines where the fragrance takes on a particular finesse. The terrain of this area is typically calcareous and in fact active limestone reaches an average of 7-8%, promoting high quality wine. The percentage of organic matter in the soil is good (approx. 2.5%) as is the soil moisture ratio which reaches levels of 9.1. C/N. This may be considered high for terrain which is predominantly sandy.
